Online hate is corrosive ⚠️
It has a destabilising impact on freedom of expression and trust in Aotearoa New Zealand.
However, only a tiny proportion of New Zealand internet users are classified as online extremists, but the harm caused by hate speech and disinformation is now so widespread that it’s a clear and present danger to anyone online.
Introducing the Community of Strangers project – the brainchild of the incredible Lady Khadija Charitable Trust NZ and Telling Lives with support from InternetNZ | Ipurangi Aotearoa.
At the heart of the project lies our intention and desire to enrich our communities by examining how individuals can function as valued and informed members of the communities.
