52 Peaks Challenge

A week of earth, wind, rest and rain

After the first heavy snowfalls the skifields were screaming. Not only did avalanches destroy a lot of the club field’s lift tows, but there were numerous stories of worse weather to come… and it always comes at the weekend to annoy those who work 5 day weeks!

After the first heavy snowfalls the skifields were screaming. Not only did avalanches destroy a lot of the club field’s chair lifts, but there were numerous stories of worse weather to come… and it always comes at the weekend to annoy those who work 5 day weeks!  A Rest!!

So more wet and windy (150-200km/h) weather – not ideal conditions.  A rest from climbing peaks, running and pretty much any outdoor activity – although I did manage a run around the Rapaki Loop on Saturday, but that doesn’t really count – good training though!

A Rest Run up Mt Vernon, Port Hills

Anyway, thoughts go out to those who will appear in a few days time at the World Orienteering Championships in Vuokatti, Finland. Some of them are friends, some are atheltes I’ve coached in the past, some are my peers and some are old hands to the WOC game – good luck to them all!

Anyway, that’s me over and out – until the next peak!
